Big Yellowfin, Blackfin, lots of Mahi, Grouper, Yellowtail and African Pompano

The plan was to meet at Jeff's(CNTDR) house at 11am to load up Rum n Gun with Stan(Spirit) and wait for my wife kim to get off work. We were initially going to run to Great Harbor but we found out the day we were leaving they double booked the townhouse we were getting we ran to Sunrise hotel instead. We pushed off around 1:30pm and put the hammers down heading east. The ride over was flat. By the time we cleared customs and checked in to the hotel we decided to make some food and pass out early. The next day we caught some nice blackfins, skippys, more than 20 big strawberrys and a couple black grouper, big yellowtails, A big African Pompano, and 6 nice size mahi between 12-20lbs, By the time we got back cleaned the boat and a lot of fish we made some food and passed out.

Sunday we were focus on the yellowfin but kept finding solid mahi under the birds instead of tuna in the morning. They were all nice gaffers 12-20lbs again. We kept some and let some go because we already had a lot of Mahi. In the afternoon we started running the birds again. The first couple flocks had blackfins and skippys but no yellowfin. The third flock was the one we were looking for with over 100 birds diving and fish busting. As soon as kim started chunking we were hooked up. It was a great bite, we were hand feeding baits yellowfin tuna 25 feet from the boat. The biggest being a 70+. I got my *** kicked on a spinner for 45 minutes with the biggest fish of the trip but fortunately I got him before the sharks did.

This morning we were going to fish a couple hours but when we cleared the cove it was 2-3 chop and their was a nasty storm over the canyons so we ran home looking for mahi instead. It turned into 2-4 straight wind chop for the last 50 miles but flattened down nicely a couple miles off PBI. It was a great trip wth good people as always. Thank you Jeff for the inivting Kim and I, you are a great friend and most importantly we always have fun.
