MY WORST FEAR......THAT WHEN I DIE MY WIFE WILL SELL ALL MY BOATS & FISHING GEAR FOR WHAT I TOLD HER I PAID FOR IT.......

I may not always agree with what you say,
but I will always respect your right to be wrong!

Heavy Hooker, a fellow traveler in Politics, said of Memorial Day 10 years ago - 'shed a tear, raise a glass, say a prayer, but in some way pay tribute to the fallen'.

He inspired these few words then and now, again, as each year since...'tho this is the first year not in politics - I hope he is well.

    Tribute to our Fallen

To all the heroes who silent sleep...
    'neath weeping willow...or briny deep.

The debt we owe can ne'er be paid...
    for courage shown...for sacrifice made.

E'er with grateful heart your Nation comes...
to honor the mem'ry...of the fallen ones.

    Regards,
    gl

And every day,,,,,, another statue of one of our fallen heros is taken down, their names removed from our buildings and the history concerning their contributions to our nation erased from our history books. Yes lets remember them all while we are still allowed to.

Memorial Day - for recognizing the sacrifice of our fallen.

And this is what you offer.

The reflection is on you, consider it.

Thanks to your fallen guys, they did a lot also for us.
Not always America has fought for the right reasons but the government's blames will never hide the sacrifice of so many brave guys.

I don't know why he quit posting - was hoping someone here would remember him and know. I believe he was a Vietnam vet, and also that his wife was ill - beyond that , nothing.

I remember him quite well as a few others. I am not sure what happened to him or his wife.

As to the others dragging this thread into the mucks of politics, you are disgraceful.

Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see

    That suicide is painless
    It brings on many changes
I can take or leave it if I please
That game of life is hard to play

    I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card of some delay
So this is all I have to say
    That suicide is painless

    It brings on many changes
I can take or leave it if I please
The sword of time will pierce our skin
It doesn't hurt when it begins

But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger, watch it burn
    That suicide is painless
    It brings on many changes

And I can take or leave it if I please
A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key
Is it to be or not to be

And I replied oh why ask me
    That suicide is painless
    It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I...

    That suicide is painless

I can take or leave it if I please

    That suicide is painless
    It brings on many changes
And you can do the same thing if you please

Oddly I don't have one close relative that served in any war. WW One, two,Korea, or Nam. What are the odds? The wife is the same age and has generations of war casualties.

    IN FLANDERS FIELDS POEM
The World’s Most Famous WAR MEMORIAL POEM
    By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

Lieutenant Colonel John McCraeIn Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved: and now we lie
    In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields

Composed at the battlefront on May 3, 1915
during the second battle of Ypres, Belgium
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.
