We were suppose to spend the holiday weekend in the islands but some things came up and it got cancelled Thursday morning. Plan B, guys overnight fish all day and night and next morning then roll home. Got the crew lined up and headed East at 0500 Friday morning, cleared, caught bait and rolled to the zone. Little slow start with only blackfins and skippys. Around 4 we started getting in the right ones. Kept 12 YFT from 25-65lbs, and threw back countless smaller ones and blackfins, lost just as many to the tax man. Once it gets dark we go drop anchor in the snapper hole and start bailing the yellowtails, only keeping the ones that are 20"+, and 5 muttons from 10-25lbs, limited out by midnight. The crew passes out in the bags while I stay watch and keep playing catch n release with tails, muttons, and jacks, Waiting on daylight to go pick off a few more YFT. Couple storms blew up on us at 0400 and after quick chat we decided we had plenty of Tuna and didnt need to fish the morning bite, pointed her West and rocked home at 45kts.
