The Heat is on. Tampa bay Inshore
I got the chance to get out with a buddy from work who doesn't fish very much and do some work on the inshore fish of Tampa Bay. With an empty boat ramp in the morning greeting us due to an incoming cold front we got out early. After 10 mins of chumming Two pancake's with the 12ft net and we were loaded with chunky white baits. headed to the first spot which there were a few redfish mingling around but not much action. As the tide turned and started coming in we made a move which paid us in red gold. we proceeded to land about 15 over slot reds at the second spot we stopped at. the fish didn't seem to spook or even care we were there just one after another for about an hour. Then just like the switch turned on it was off and not a bite. Checked a couple other spots until we found some hungry snook which there was some that looked a bit like logs on the bottom. after a few 30 inchers and some screaming drag back to the mangroves that resulted in a break off. The tide slowed some and they seemed to turn off as well. With a successful day already in the books we headed for hula bay and a cold corona.
