WAY OFFSHORE TOMORROW..Anyone been to the ledges lately?

Calling for 2' or less again tomorrow so we are seizing the opportunity and heading way out looking for new snapper ground and maybe a few big grouper. Bringing all of the Trolling gear, it sure would be nice to raise a pelagic or something other than Little Tunny/Bonita.

I don't see a lot of deep water updates on this coast. Has anyone been way out lately? Any suggestions what depth to run out to? I was figuring 160 to 220'. I was out trolling in the hopes of picking up some kings a couple of days ago but I only caught 2 big Bonita on 3 runs.



I don't get the opportunity to go out that far often but now that I just repowered it will be happening a lot more.

Last fall I ran out to the "240 ledge" and drifted around for a while - got one keeper Red Grouper and that was about it. I did not find any remarkable structure and for all I know I may not have been in the proper "spot". Fished 75-95 FOW. I am going out the 3rd week of May with "the guys" and look to go WAY offshore (depths you are discussing). Thought I may try to track down a shrimp boat and see ifwe can find some BFT's. If you want to "buddy up" and run 2 boats out together I would be open to it. Shoot me a PM if interested.

280-360' Troll big heavy baits for wahoo before 9am. Fish deeper to avoid the ARS. Should see plenty of scamps and some Y.E., Kitties, throw back gags, and maybe a warsaw.

Fished yesterday, went southwest 75 miles from FMB. Rough is all I can say. 3-4 with some 5' swells mixed in. Fishing tomorrow, kings are around landed one that maxed out my 50lb scale.

Have to agree with Veikx. It was rough out there. We ended up going 82 miles out to 202" feet of water. trolled for a few hours and had 1 huge run that we ended up following with the boat to keep from spooling me. Just when things started going my way and I was making progress he bent the one of the hooks and pulled....Sure would have like to seen that one. Caught 1 bonita and then decided to come back toward shore. At 18 miles out we stopped and did some bottom fishing. Threw 3 Red Grouper in the cooler and some snapper. Seas laid down great inside 25 miles.
