Pig Update......

AC ManAC Man Posts: 7,304 Admiral
The only reason I post is these 20 pigs are rooting the side of our driveway every night. The neighbor hired a trapper and he hasn't caught the first one.lol. His trap is 200 yards from where they are rooting. You would think in two weeks he could do better than that.

Well we trapped two last night. However the guy thinks you catch these 20 you have seen and there will be 20 more show up later. 25 years since i have pigs on our property. would like to know the science behind that. Also had deer every day for two years. none before or since. odd.

Loss of habitat maybe. New subdivisions going up everyday and they are taking some animals house in place of theirs

Pigs breed like rats. In one year a pair can turn into a dozen pigs and piglets. If you had 20 a year ago it is not hard to imagin you now have at least 40.

I killed over 50 armadillos in my yard over a 3-year period. I haven't seen one now for months. Probably will tomorrow, since it's supposed to rain.

Pigs can have up to nine piglets three times a year. Hard to keep the population down with those numbers.

and yet I still cant find a place in Brevard county to take my daughter hunting for pigs. (non WMA)

Even told land owners we would only use a bow, so no bullets would fly. They complain about the hogs, but dont let people come out and hunt them. I understand you have to CYA with people suing left and right, but I would sign any waiver or put my hand on a Bible/handshake (which used to be acceptable agreements between adults)
Some people are like a slinky, not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you push them down the stairs.

Knotty i feel your pain. Fortunately i own my own land, unfortunately our swamp is over run with pigs. We try to keep them in check by means of traps, and hunters, but it seems to be an unwinnable war. Until all our landowner neighbors get on board, all we do is push them on their land until the heat is off.
