anyone remember the old man Jerry that used post news stuff mostly odd deaths?

coldaircoldair Posts: 11,490 AG
He worked for NASA, lived near the Kennedy space center, he used to go to the bashes and loved to fish till he got too sick to go fishing any more. I don't think he had any family in an odd way I think we were his family, an odd dysfunctional family. imagine dying a lonely death with just us as your family and friends, back then it wasn't a bad thing because we used to be a lot better, rough on the outside but with a lot more kind and caring people. he is the reason that I used to post the deaths and crimes that were odd ball, the stuff he liked as symbol of solidarity.

a lot of good people left here, some died, some drifted off, some just moved on. what happened to us?

Posts and threads like this one is what happened to us Mike.

To the OP, what's wrong with "just us as your family and friends", we're all good people here :grin

    Jerry Patterson i believe.
  • Remember the days when we didn't have fax machines? What about when everyone had pagers but almost no one had a cell phone? Remember the days before Facebook? What about the days when it's was unheard of to have your own forum?

Now there's a million different forums catering to every single interest you could possibly think of.

Lost a bunch of his PMs when FS decided not to give us warning of the upgrade. Would have taken me 2 minutes to save them.

That's the problem, there is no content. Take a look at yourself for example, what positive contributions do you make here? It seems like all you do is criticize and complain a lot without ever bringing anything to the table.

Dont feel bad, you're not the only one. When you look at all of the people that complain a lot and cry about the old days and how the forum has gone downhill, the one common denominator between them all is that most dont actually contribute a thing.

LOL truth hurts don't it? What is funny is your denial. Why is it that these type of threads have the most hits? Yea that is my fault LOL I have contributed in the past and was here close to the beginning. You might have some of my fishing reports unless you lost them all. What is it you bring us anymore? We the posters made this place as much or more than FS did. You have this attitude, yet you want the experts, you know the locals with years of experience angling in Florida to help sell your rag by posting pictures and and fishing reports and answering the same question about inshore combos. If you think this place is so great then where are all the pro's the best of the best from Florida outdoors ? Why are they not here ? The politics section you guys own the conduct there, plenty of politic forums that are not nasty and don't have paid trolls, again an editing problem. You guys are in charge of the content and clearly for years suggestion have been made to moderators and clearly you pretend to listen.

That is a really nice tribute. I'm newer so I never knew him, but he sounds like a quality person.

What, do you think anyone clicked on this because they thought you might post? The topic was why people opened the thread, and why it has 375 posts. Or not quite that many, yours aren't on topic, just a bunch of biatching, so they don't count.

Nothing of substance is allowed in Off Topic. Anything I post about current events will turn political and get deleted. I work too much right now to fish, so I have no fishing reports. The only thing left is some humorous topics.

And that relates to people opening the thread because you might have posted on it how? Most people who open this herald did so because they were curious about who the person was, or, like me, knew who Mike was talking about, and click because they remembrance him, and wondered what happened to him. You opened it so you could **** about the forum again.
