House Training A Puppy?

My daughter, who does not live with me, has an 11 week old Yorkie that she can't seem to house train. I've always had dogs and never had this problem with any of them. When I would bring a puppy home if it moved I took it outside, including getting up in the middle of the night. Never a problem. She has about a week before moving and if she can't get it under control the puppy has to go.

Suggestions?

Is it a small crate. They say not to get one too much bigger than the actual dog. If it is, she may want to try partitioning off a section. Also, are we sure the dog is physically okay?

Would you keep a child if yours if it chit it's britches everyday. Of course not, so why keep a dog?

An old bird-dog trainer showed me his method about 50 years ago and I have had excellent results with every dog since then. As soon as the pup is finished eating take him outside and place him in the grass where you want him to go. Don't get lazy, do it every time he eats. Between meals, if he gets nervous and starts looking for a place to go then pick him up and take him outside to the "spot." Usually takes me a week to get them mostly trained but I do it until they actually go to the door themselves wanting to go outside. In 2-3 weeks they'll just about run to the door as soon as they finish the last tidbit in their bowl. Eating stimulates puppies to pee and poop so use that fact to your advantage.

Remember a schedule is needed also. We always take the dogs out very shortly after they eat. Also, small dog, small bladder. They will learn to hold it longer as they age, but in the meantime, I would try to take it out every 2 or 3 hours tops. Try to do the same times also, it seems to help the dog get into a rhythm.

Update: It's a Pomeranian, not a Yorkie. Anybody wan't a Pomeranian?

Can't house train it? Just keep the door shut and say No! every time it tries to come inside. After a while, it will prefer staying outside. Having dogs inside is barbaric anyhow.

Yorkies suck that way, as do a lot of crappy little yappers.

it's ezy pzy, after eating or drinking take the pup out side and pee or boo in the yard when the puppy does the same you praise it like crazy, high fives and happy dances. in just one week you will have a trained puppy
