Burrito Brothers closes forever this weekend.
No I'm not one of the saps that will line up out the door for a farewell meal, as I always thought their food was overrated anyway, well except for the guac, they made awesome guac... but it's still kind of sad they started in 1976 and were known to everyone and very nice people.
Treated employees and customers right.
I had a feeling when they went to a sit-down format instead of a takeout window that their days were numbered, and the new construction that further limited their already very limited parking didn't help either.
Sign of the times I guess, mom and pop operations are becoming exceedingly rare in Gainesville these days, it's one giant strip mall. Orlando North.
So long Burrito Brothers, and thanks for the food, while IMO not the manna from heaven some made it out to be, it was tasty enough and **** good hangover food.

They did have a following. It is a shame to lose another locally owned restaurant. Not many left here.

If by Lou's you mean Louis' Lunch, they've been gone for at least 5 years.
And yes, Bill, I think 40 years of business does make them an icon. Maybe not as iconic as your beloved Waffle House, but an icon nonetheless...
I'm talking Big Lou's.
Treated employees and customers right"
yes they did, when they were next to chinee takee outee on the corner of 13th and university i knew someone that worked there and loved it
when they had to move it was a shame, the food was good not great but fair priced and fresh ingredients
El Indio is still open. At least the 34th street location. I think the one on 13th is still open as well.

That goes with most things in life....:)
Meh.
For the best pizza in Alachua county, and maybe some of the best pizza on earth, head south to Micanopy on 441 to Blue Highway.
They have other locations now but as said above, the original will always be the best.
And....Taco Johns??? That place was horrible! Taco Bell is better!!!

It's called, Nacho Mama.
No. La Tienda.
The only Mexican food in town that could compete with some of the food I had in Texas. I think the proximity of Burrito Famous to your store is clouding your judgement....
And Fish Haid, that joke is lame even by your very low standards.
And I'm sad about the grammar error in the title.
Aaaargh and I'm usually the language police....
I'm demoted.
Blue Agave is better for Mexican. For take out Burrito, Burrito Famous. Two different types of restaurants in my book. La Tienda is good, so is Peppers and La Fiesta. Las Margaritas went downhill after the move. Haven't tried the place on 6th street, but I hear good things.

sort of like how gville had many truly good bbq trucks
I haven't been to the one on 6th but for a short time there was one on 20th by the crappy wing place. It was pretty good, they did both Americanized and more authentic Mexican.
