Sharks Inside Boynton

Been seeing sharks jump like crazy all week inside BBI. Haven't been able to land any from my dock so I've been taking the yak out after em. These are the first sharks I've ever caught and suffice it to say its a little different than the fishing I'm used to. I've been using crevalle heads on 7-0 mustad hooks, with 1 foot of #8 wire and 4-5 feet of 100 pound mono on a Battle II 5000 combo with 30lb braid. Haven't had to wait longer than 20 minutes to get bit.

We used to catch them off Beer Can when you were still allowed on the island. We mainly fished weekday afternoons when it was mostly quiet without 1000 boats going in and out. We caught mostly blacktips and spinners, but caught two bull sharks, one over 8' over the years.

Are you getting these around the inlet as Pottydoc mentions he used to?

Sharks can put up quite a fight, especially on spinning gear.

How big are the ones you have been running into?

Strangegill, yea they've all been within a few hundred yards of beer can. Jim, i've caught a few in the 3-4 ft range and and 1 that was maybe 5-6 ft. Copperz, I've been getting em during the day too, but given that its a really high traffic boat area its easier late at night when no ones out.
