Did a trip Wed AM for Mr M. Sent him to Lott Bros and he bought a pair of pimp bottom rods.
Took him to one of my spots and first drop was a STUD Mutton. Next drop was a flag tail.
Moved outside and started fishing some live bait, while prospecting the bottom.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ holy smokes Mickey got a HUGE SMOKER, then another, and a few snakes too.
Not having a king permit, we just kept 2, and released several, feeling good about being "conservation minded". Of the 2 we kept, the biggest smoker (about 40lbs) went to Gerald and Unitarian church for their fellowship. Gerald has a kick *** smoker, nothing goes to waste. We also gave one to deck hands at Loggerhead, since they do a GREAT job, and are appreciated!!
Rest the flat and a HUGE sail is dancing towards the bow. After 20 minutes of give and take and spectacular leads , we let her go. BAM, he's on again, landing 4 more keeper muttons.
He said it was one of the best days of his life. He broke in the drags on new Torium 20's w pinke Ande real good. The sail and kings even burned his thumb a bit! LOL (#tried to warn him!)
He went home tired and proud, after docking the boat like a boss w a full box!~
I got some video of sail etc, but just doing quick report, cleaning yp, rigging for tomorrow and bed by 9.
E$=E-sleeepy. Oh today the sail that ate flat charged the boat also when it realized something was amiss. This one actually glanced off the hull and left a bill mark in gelcoat. I swear to god it nearly jumped in the boat. I saw leader go by by head and instivley DUCKED, but also got the leader touch.

Question, with those 3-hook rigs, do you fish all the way to the bottom or mid water column? I usually put one of those red beads between the knot and the egg sinker and use enough weight to go about half way down. Had some success with it but wondering how you fished them...
BTW now I have your secret numbers by triangulating with the background buildings. Just kidding, if only I were that smart and devious :USA

Hook N Up
It depends
If I want muttons on bottom w 15' of leader
If I want kings I add about 1/2 ounce of lead
