I like all grits....EXCEPT INSTANT!, but recently have come to prefer yellow corn grits. More flavor and texture, IMO.

The best piece of blackened fish I have ever eaten was at a restaurant in St. Augustine and was served atop a large serving of datil pepper cheese grits. The fish, and the grits, were top shelf.
Not sure why the allusions to the woman being black.... my experiences with too much yucky perfume has been on older white women. I don't know why they wear it so heavy. Ever go into an elevator and wish you could crawl out thru the roof hatch because an older woman go on wearing too much perfume? And, there's one in particular my MIL wears that is so obnoxious. I don't know what it is, but my wife finally had to say something to her earlier this year.

Grits, like rice, potatoes and a lot of other food has a mild flavor that is enhanced with a little butter and salt. Also, you claim that we eat it for the other food flavor, but the fact is, it makes the other food taste better. Shrimp and fish are great with grits.
....and though some schmarty-pantzes might disagree.....
Nothin better for babies than grits...mixed in with a little milk and sugar babies love the hell out of it and it acts as a base for adding other stuff like really mashed up meat and veggies that when it hits the kids mouth doesn't make them wanna spit it out.

My guess is he never had real grits, just some instant stuff at a chain restaurant.
One of my favorite places to eat in Gainesville is a place I don't order grits because he uses instant.

Grits aren't tasteless. A little butter and salt enhances their flavor, like catsup on a burger.

Jeez! It's near lunch and I have no where to go and get that. I've never tried those combo's but tou've made me rather hungry.
