Broke the inlet by 6:45 and loaded the well on runners at the can and the sandpile. Started to see flyers in 70' so I put out a runner while I rigged up the ballyhoo to put back. Not even 2 minutes in we were tight on a sail. Pulled about 50 yards n spit the hook. Circle hook didn't set this time around. Had our first knockdown 20 min into the troll, only to strip the ballyhoo down to the skeleton. Weather started to kick in and made it snotty in my 18'. Hit some light weed in 120'-130' north of SLI where we scored two mahi. Flyers were thicker than I've seen in a long time, all lil guys tho. Had 1 fly into the boat. Within minutes of being in the weed we actually got to witness the larger cow make a beeline across the top of the water to jump on our bait. Pink n white was the lucky skirt today, as we used chartreuse, blue n white, and blue n purple. After about an hour and a half trolling Pops wanted some live bait action. Drifted a for a while with 2 cut offs using 50 flouro. Pulled the plug around 10ish due to wind n seas and headed for the barn. Decent few hours and got the old man dinner, plus he's a good boat cleaner!! Lol
