Today's mission was two-fold. Get out and catch fish and try out some new gear in the process. Got a late start due to errands - splashed the boat around 12:30 and broke out of B.I. to some fairly sloppy seas running around 3 ft. The forecast was a little off with a short duration and more wind than expected. :spin
Put out a 2 line spread on a troll Southeast bound. Zigged-Zagged between 120 and 300 picking up a couple juvenile Bonita's. Worked my way out to 600' picking up a small Skip Jack in the process. All fish hit a trolled Red & White feather. The Squid chain never got touched. Saw lots of baby flyers in 120' and no weed to speak of. No birds working anywhere either. The current was pushing the boat northbound, but with a North East wind pushing back, the speed ended up being barely 1 Kt. Hardly any movement really, water temp offshore was 78 degrees.
I finally got to a couple favorite spots and dropped some squid and cut Bonita down deep getting a lot of bites without a hook-up. Finally, got one to stick and pulled up a nice Blueline Tile fish. At around 4:45 PM I ran North deciding to avoid the wet ride any further, and took the ditch back to Boynton via Boca Inlet. It was a welcome change since it was snotty offshore and I'd never been through that part of the Intracoastal before.
Nothing caught was worth taking pictures of though, maybe next time.

Which new gear were you trying out?
Jim = Thanks. I took the LP out for the first time. What a dream machine! Can't wait to hook up on some serious meat with it. :wink
