I don't usually fish Sundays on my own boat, especially with a tournament on, but with the cold front I made an exception. Grabbed a buddy "Tango", a couple dozen gogs and ran offshore. Two kites up and a couple flat lines covered a lot of water.
We tried to stay away from the tournament fleet and for much of the morning that looked like the wrong choice. Fortunately as the day wore on, we found the fish (or they found us). For a couple hours it was almost non stop action.
In the end we had 12 sail bites and 2 dolphin bites. A bad spool of brand new 50# leader material cost us a bunch of break offs despite fishing 4-6lbs of drag and soft rods, yet we managed to land 5 of the sails and 1 dolphin after a whole lot of cursing and frustration. You can be sure that spool was thrown away upon reaching dock. That was the worst ratio I've had in a very long time, and for a while it had completely ruined my enthusiasm. Thanks to "Tango" for keeping me in the game.
No pics today. Between the windy, choppy conditions and my bad attitude from the equipment failures I had no desire to pull the camera out.
FYI, A few local boats had a bad run of ANDE, not sure if it's your brand but I'd stay way because its a whole batch.
