Never got around to posting this from a few weeks ago & then forgot about it. Since it's been slow on here of late, figured I'd post it anyway even if it was a few weeks old.....
I finally made it back down from Nashville to Panama City the last weekend in October. Hadn't been down since late August; been too busy going to UT football games to watch the VOLS play. And this was my last chance to go for the year. Had a few folks lined up to go & they all bailed at the last minute leaving only me & my buddy. So, it was just the two of us. Had a couple of minor boat "hiccups" to deal with first thing that morning & by the time we stopped to get a few live baits we were a couple of hours later than planned clearing the pass. We had originally planned to troll down the beach first thing to try to get in on the hot King bite that had been happening but, with the late start we hit plan B and just motored West to try and find some nearshore snapper.
Within about 3 miles from shore it was fairly nice but, out past that it got real breezy & pretty bumpy. We did a lot of prospecting in new areas for us and hopped from spot to spot all day. The fishing was pretty tough all day. We fed a lot of bait to a lot of triggerfish on just about every spot we tried. We couldn't get away from those suckers. Most were small but, we did catch a few nice sized ones. We even had them hitting our baits at only 20-30-feet down. We had to work really hard to get a few snapper to take home for some fish dinners & ended up one short of our 2 man limit.
We still had a nice time and it was good to be on the water again. Plus, we got the boat cleaned up good & ready for winter storage. Now, it's time for deer season.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving this week!

I'll keep you in mind next year. We're always in need of folks to go. You'd think folks would be all over a free fishing trip. But, the way we have to watch the weather & with our travel time, we have to make a lot of last minute decisions. I guess they just aren't as die hard as I am.
