Clinton and yet another ethics violation to the tune of $1,000,000.00

The Clinton Foundation has said it accepted a $1 million gift from the Qatari government without notifying the State Department that it had done so, an apparent violation of an ethics agreement Hillary Clinton signed when she became Secretary of State in 2009.

Under the terms of the agreement, Clinton promised the foundation would notify the State Department's ethics official if a new foreign government wished to donate or if a current foreign donor wished to "increase materially" its contributions.

Qatari officials pledged the money in 2011 to mark former President Bill Clinton's 65th birthday. The following April, Amitabh Desai, the Clinton Foundation's foreign policy director, emailed several of his colleagues to say that the Qataris wanted to meet Bill Clinton "'for five minutes' in NYC to present [the] check." Hillary Clinton served as secretary of state until Feb. 1, 2013.

When contacted by Reuters, which first reported on the deal's ethical ramifications, Clinton Foundation spokesman Brian Cookstra said the $1 million gift did not constitute a "material increase" in the Middle Eastern nation's contributions.

Reuters, citing the foundation's own website, reported that Qatar's own government has directly given a total of between $1 million and $5 million over the years.

The State Department told the news agency it had no record of the Qatar donation and said it was up to the foundation to submit it for review.

The number of foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation has opened the Democratic nominee up to conflict-of-interest accusations and raises the possibility that donors gave money with the expectation of receiving political favors in return.

Republican nominee Donald Trump has repeatedly called for Clinton to return donations from countries like Qatar, which has a questionable human rights record.

Last year, the Foundation admitted that no complete list of donors to its health program, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, had been published since 2010, despite promises from Clinton two years earlier that such a list would be produced annually.

The email from Desai was part of a trove of hacked messages from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta's account that were published by Wikileaks last month.

That goes without saying at this point dontcha think..???
What's disturbing is the total lack of questioning coverage from America's media when the Clinton Crime Family takes millions from individuals and foreign regimes who kill women for violating Sharia law. Who allow gays to be murdered with impunity, etc, etc.
BUT.... God forbid Donald Trump took 10.00 from David Duke..!!!!
You'd hear about it for a week.

Taking a million dollars from one of the very last phoney "kings" left in the world?

    Unbelievable.

You can always count on the Clintons to set new lows in ethical conduct.

Rank has its privileges. Anyone who served in the military knows that.

Congressmen, Senators, cabinet secretaries, cabinet under-secretaries, assistants to under-secretaries, corporate executives, you name it.... if you're in the circle you get special treatment.

Are US military officers allowed to accept a million dollars from foreign nations on their birthdays?

It's not the alleged criminal activities, but Trump's psychosis that's going to give her the presidency. Just the other day Trump declared early voting was a sign of a rigged election. Too many idiots believe him.
  • What ethics agreement?

What action did she take that was hers alone to enure financial benefit directly to herself and the donor?

This is why we can't have an adult discussion on this forum. We're constantly having to address immature statements from children.

You really missed the point. Did I ffffffffffffing say military officers could accept a million dollars from foreign nations?

Did I say that you did?

    No, of course not.

    Let me repeat.

Are US military officers allowed to accept a million dollars from foreign nations on their birthdays?

If not, why is that "practice" prohibited?

I hope Tag posts that ethics agreement soon. This is getting boring.

    What a surprise.

    What ethics agreement?

Gary has a very difficult time understanding this concept.
The watchdog pointed to an agreement Clinton signed in January 2009, which said:

If confirmed as Secretary of State, I will not participate personally and substantially in any particular matter that has a direct and predictable effect upon the [Clinton Foundation], unless I first obtain a written waiver or qualify for a regulatory exemption.

It's not incumbent on us to provide any signed agreements Clinton had with the State Department. He needs to provide us proof of waivers. How many times do we have to point this out. It's getting old.:rotflmao

Forget about the silly semantics and Phil's predictable avoidance of my simple question.

This prohibition was put into the constitution because our founding fathers were quite familiar with the negative impact that country selling grifters like the Clintons have on government.

An obscure provision of the Constitution banning acceptance of compensation or items of value from a foreign government contains traps for unwary federal employees and active or retired military personnel, the Pentagon ethics office has said.

The language, designed to prevent influence by foreign nations over U.S. government decisions, covers various forms of pay as well as travel or gifts, says a March white paper from the Defense Department Standards of Conduct Office.

“This little known provision, the ‘Emoluments Clause,’ is still in effect today and applies to Federal civilian employees and active-duty military personnel. It also applies to retired military officers and enlisted personnel from the active and reserve components including military officers, enlisted retirees and retired Reservists,” the white paper says.

    RANK..?????!!!!!
You want to talk about RANK..????
What RANK Does Hillary Clinton hold..??
    What RANK has she earned???
She's been an elected SERVANT of the people of New York.
She's been an UN-elected servant of the people through her appointment and confirmation as Sec. of State.
    She's earned No RANK.
That's the problem with trying to have an adult conversation with the liberals here. They don't recognize corruption so long as their choice wins.
Just curious... is there ANY limit to what you will accept from the Clinton Crime Family before you'll stop sucking down their Kool-Aid..???
  • Please remain calm.

This is a time for quiet reflection and contrition for grievances past and forgiveness of trespass.
