Boat theft

There has been discussion about boat theft in the bahamas. Does anyone know if the "24 hour security " can be trusted at Old Bahama Bay marina or Bimini Sands? What do you guys think is the most effective methods to secure CC's with outboards? I believe the leading tactics are chain or cable and lock, removing motor computer, prop lock, alarms, or combination.

We've been running across since 1982 and have never had an issue. I hope I didn't jinx myself! We stay at Bootle Bay but have stayed at Old Bahama Bay and back in the day Walker's Cay when it was operating.

We have never had a theft at bimini sands. Even so, if I have a boat with yamahas, no matter where in the bahamas, i have a very visible lock of some sorts, they will move on. Many thefts are they swim in, untie it, and float it out. Rareley do they start it at the dock, so computer idea would result in boat on the rocks or beach.

Brad, How would you "lock" the Yamaha engine...ie...making it "visible" as you stated.

I can attest to the fact that I have never had anything stolen at Bimini Sands!

A simple lock and cable fom bow rail or console to cleat on dock. They are lazy and will move on.
