November Surf Fishing?

ejsellejsell Posts: 3 Greenhorn
I'm going to be in the Melbourne area for the week of Thanksgiving visiting my brother, who does not fish. Is there much going on in the surf this time of year? I spent a week in July not catching anything, but still having fun, the last time I was down. So I'm still looking for my first salt fish on a fly. Any advice or info would be much appreciated. Thanks,
Jeff

And just for the heck of it, here's what I spent last week chasing.

The good news is you'll be warmer than you've ever been chasing steelhead. The bad news is our surf tends to be uncooperative that time of year. Pompano, whiting, flounder, black drum are there, but don't be surprised if the surf is a sloppy mess when you get here, it'll be about that time. There are other places to fish, if you're open to suggestions you probably won't regret having a plan B, or C, D, an E might come in handy.

Thank you, I'm definitely open to suggestions and any advice. Those steelhead were plan B, caught in tiny creeks, ankle to knee deep and 10-15 feet across at most, due to the rivers being blown out. Totally changed our game plan for 5 of the 6 days we were chasing them.
