Weeki Wachee (FOX 13) - The bodies of two divers were recovered on Monday from the Eagle's Nest dive area in Weeki Wachee, reinforcing the location's reputation for claiming the lives of even advanced divers.

The divers, Patrick Peacock and Chris Rittenmeyer, traveled from Fort Lauderdale to conduct a three-day dive at Eagles Nest. They were joining a third diver, Justin Blakely, who notified law enforcement after Peacock and Rittenmeyer did not return to the surface.

Blakely told authorities that the two men were experienced divers and both had dived Eagle's Nest several times before.

I can see the appeal of Cave Diving, I am sorry that these folks had to die enjoying their sport.

That was my very first nitrox dive, and the current was so strong going past the reaper sign, I almost didn't make it in. There have been quite a few deaths in that cave system. I feel really bad for the families.

RIP I prefer to snorkel the spring heads and leave the caves alone.
