Lots of tuna out there - LWI

Went out the inlet and headed east in search of the stick that Capt Tommy caught all the dolphin on yesterday. Oddly enough I wasn't able to find it.)

It was slick calm out there and the water was nice and blue. No weed lines or definitive rips.

Trolled all the way out to about 1000'. Came across numerous schools of tuna busting up bait from about 450 to 650'. It was tough to get a bite, even on my favorite little jet head feathers fished way back. Got a couple and kept enough for some poke and some sushi.

Not sure what to suggest to anyone heading out for them this weekend. Maybe live pilchards if you can find them. I was also fishing in the middle of the morning so early or late might be more productive. If you head out tomorrow I'm pretty sure you'll find the fish. It's just a matter of getting them to eat.

No idea why the second picture is sideways. Does it make the fish look bigger?

Thanks for the report. We ran out to 1,000 feet out of Boca Raton. We saw some scattered weed, but nothing organized. We through Live bait at a few logs that had some life under them, but no customers were present. Headed back in aND saw some large schools of bonitos working the surface. We put a small one back out & it was devoured behind the hook (of course). We ended up with a nice rainbow runner & a monster barracuda. Slow fishing overall, but a beautiful day on the water.

By the way, I have heard that rainbow runners are good to eat. Is this true? My friend ended up taking it home. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Rainbow Runners are fantastic and most edible! Especially Sushi! I know guys that RAVE over the sushi quality of RR's!

There was no question about what kind of fish is pictured. The discussion about rainbow runner has nothing to do with the picture.

Thanks for confirming, E$! I will have to ask my friend what he thought about the rainbow runner. Stay safe this week everyone. I'm hoping for some good fishing after the storm passes by.
