Just looking for some advise on fishing the flats in biscayne bay feedback would be appreciated
. That's one place that I had unbelievable experience. Granted it's been over 20 years ago but I've never forgotten. Back then I had a 16' Cuda Craft. I was poling on the ocean side of Soldiers Key towards the island. When all of a sudden I noticed an area about the size of the island itself started slowly moving. I don't dare guess how many Bonefish were in that school. but it was very impressive. It looked like the bottom was moving there were so many fish. Good Luck.
AS the others have said, lots of bonefish on the flats, mangroves and cuda as well as muttons in the channels The three flats N of Soldiers are very good ad wadeable, especially oceanside
The cuts also hold sizable numbers of snook. The cuts set up with snook at the water intake side, mangrove snapper holding behind them. That was one of my favorite areas to fish in the 1980's.
Back in the sixties, there was a wreck off the NW corner of the island. Always good for some great barracuda action. Captain George the voice of experience
Real nice area with tons of life. Just be careful around there as it's shallow and rocky. You can easily destroy your lower unit if you're not paying attention.
I fish it a lot, there's a great mutton fishery in the channels running between the flats, especially this time of year. Muttons, mangroves and yellow jacks are all pretty common as well as the occasional porgy and grouper.
