Punta Cana Recommendations?

Not sure if this is the right place for it, but was wondering if anyone has recommendations for places to stay and charters in Punta Cana? Might be going there for a wedding at the end of Feb (wife is from the DR, but not that area). I'll have the family with me so a decent place or condo would be great.

Looking at the charts, seems like that's good time for YFT, sails, mahi, and wahoo, not so much white/blue marlin which is a bummer. Rather go for species I can't catch here, so the YFTs seems like the most likely target. Any recommendations on a good boat would be great.

I'll say look for charters in the Cap Cana Fishing Lodge or areas nearby...here's a thread that was posted this year from a guy who fished a charter boat called the Gladiator who also has some nice reviews on trip advisor http://forums.floridasportsman.com/showthread.php?219776-Cap-Cana-White-Marlin-pics
...I'm from PR and have a few buddies that have fished this area and done well. I think you'll be fine regardless of the boat as the area by itself is great with some awesome drops and close to shore.

thanks! I checked out their reviews, sound pretty decent. Most of the negative reviews seem to have to do with rough water. Sounds like that goes with the territory at certain times of the year.

I was about to reply , then realized the link was my old thread lol . If you go with Mikes Marina , take the larger boat . The Gladiator was a little tight for my buddy and I . The Dhara was much larger , and cost a bit more with a professional crew . Both boats will have someone pick you up from where you are staying , Cap Cana Marina is going to be about 20-30 minutes away from wherever you are staying . You could check if the fishing is better that time of year in Casa de Campo area (about an hour or so away ) . Kind of like Los Suenos in CR . May be better there , than at CC .

Make sure you eat at Jellyfish , really nice place on the beach .
