I hope not. My two story vacation house is the tallest structure 300 ft from the beach in Ormond. No buildings on the beach to break the wind. Heading over tomorrow to ride it out. The wind right at the beach is insane compared to 1 mile inland during a summer storms. Have made preparations. Case of vodka, check. Lemons, check.

Why "ride it out"?. It will either be there or not and you can be safe.

Latest Euro has it make landfall in Boca then head to Orlando and out around Jacksonville. The **** thing then loops in the Atlantic coming back and hitting around Cape Canaveral and moving across the state exiting in the Gulf around Tampa.

This thing is looking very Hugo"ish". Someone talked about riding it out. Been thru the eye of Erin and Opal. AD military and could not leave. Sucked. Giant oaks down everywhere, no power for 12 days.......on and on. No thanks. An air-conditioned hotel room somewhere would have been the ticket.

This has the potential to be a absolutely epic event. I can't see how the bearing could be much worse considering the total amount of potential damage. I'm glad it's not coming up the west coast as the tide surge will be up there. It could come in to the coast at 150 mph......Katrina was only a category 3.... 120mph.
It's certainly getting to be time to take it seriously because soon (24 hrs) it will be too late to consider driving....one wreck on I 95 and you are F'd. It might be smarter to drive south or west.
I suspect you are starting to see shortages.....tomorrow afternoon there will be no more bottled water......there could be power outages for weeks.....better get your groceries, batteries, and non perishables now...
