It's going to turn, and the sooner the better. Right now it is projected to begin turning at the 2:00p.m. advisory. If it misses that time, all bets are off for Florida. If the turn is missed by even a few hours this system could make a run right up the middle of Florida crushing both coasts.
The sooner the turn the better.

Expected to be Cat 2 off the east coast of FL Thursday/Friday.
Hope you are right, . . . but not willing to gamble on it. These things
are just too unpredictable and why meteorologists always talk in terms
of probabilities, and not certainties.

Not saying Palm Beach won't get hit, just saying it isn't projected to be a Cat 5 by then, although the current forecast has it as a major hurricane (cat 3+) over the Bahamas now. Perhaps with the shift to the east, Cuba's mountains are not being forecast to weaken it as much.
Palm beach is in the cone.
Storm has also slowed to 6 mph west down from 15 mph west last night. Meaning the turn is likely getting ready to begin.

New forecast shows it staying off shore of the US though.
Good, I hope they're right
oh, and you need to change your sig :grin
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."
So besides Matthew moving north below Cuba, there is a new tropical depression with strong possibility of cyclone formation north of the Caribbean moving west. Wondering what happens if they collide

If actually a Cat 5 by Tue and coming here, we are going north.
Too many big trees in this neighborhood that should have been 30% trimmed some months ago but the board of directors decided on other projects.

Supposed to weaken significantly over the mountains in eastern Cuba.

Hearing forecast of up to 40 inches of rain in Western Haiti - that ought to cause a mess and probably hundreds of deaths.
