Trip to the Boot

Made a trip with the family to Louisiana over Labor Day Weekend. I stayed at a friends camp in Delacroix Island, he took us out fishing and we found an abundance of redfish. We could keep 5 redfish a person which was a lot different that what we are use to. Overall, it was a fun weekend relaxing in a beautiful place. Made a video while I was down there link is below

Great fishery. How about the daily limit of 25 trout. Now that is something. I loved my trips to Venice and always caught more fish than we could eat or even give away. Great experience at least once in every lifetime. By the way that daily limit of redfish includes a sixth oversize which does not require an extra permit(where I come from they issue two such permits a year for oversized reds).

Why in the world would anyone want to kill 25 Trout per day??
Or, for that matter 5 reds per person???
A great way to kill a fishery.

Lousiana fisheries are in great shape and not comparable to Florida. They have more suitable habitat and far far less people and don't have the tourism we have.

I have family over there and visit as often as I can. The 25 trout limit has been reached each trip for me. Usually come back by 10am with 15 reds and 75 trout between 3 of us. They've been doing it for a few hundred years, it's a sportsman's paradise.
