I recently purchased a Penn US113N and us it for bottom fishing. As I was reeling up a small fish it would seem to skip every 7-10 cranks. I thought it was me so I dropped it down again and sure enough it happened again. I put it aside for the rest of the day and used my 20 year old 113H. Over the weekend I took apart the US113 and noticed the part that connects to the spool is rounded and appears to be worn. Could you tell me if it is suppose to look like this?

Spool is the main issue...we saw one like this a while back and it rounded the pinion at the same time so most likely both parts need to be replaced. Will need a new spool bearing because there's no chance your getting it off once it spreads like that. Send it back to us (address below) and we'll fix under warranty. Thanks, Mike.

I was able to squeeze it together and use a couple wedges to lift the bearing off. I didn't know if it was a solid shaft through.
Thanks for the help

I just received my reel back from Penn and appreciate the top notch service and fast turn around time. Can’t wait to get back out on the water and catch some fish.
Thanks
