What a great story, even if he does play for FSU. :grin
It gets old hearing all of the negative stories involving college athletes.

I was just about to post this but you beat me to it. Props to Travis Rudolph. My middle son is autistic and middle school was tough for him.

Love stories like this. Wish there were more of them.

Amig that had to be tough on your son. Our daughter is in Middle School now and man the kids these days. :Bike

He is 19 and I think is still scarred from Middle school. Bullying, which we had no clue about at the time, was happening in his 8th grade year after he was switched to another middle school. He was getting along fine until that year. West Boca rich kids. :banghead Now enough emotion. F''' FSU!!! :grin

    That sucks.
This year our daughter (7th grade) switched from her school she has been in since kindergarten to a Boca school. She lasted a week and switched back.

Story is blowing up as it should.

Bo and family will be guests at Monday nights Miss/FSU game. They'll also be on Sportscenter and a few morning shows.

    Go Noles!

Dam GRSC. You are posting up a lot here on sports lately. Must be a lot of empty bait pens around so you aren't getting out as much. :stinkfish :grin

Bored. And the pens are full.

And... Might be the only section left to have some fun... The SE general and report sections are graveyards and most have their panties too tight. Skin isn't nearly as thin in sports :grin

Heard about this on Mike & Mike this morning. Nice recruit FSU. Reminded me of Derrick Brooks and Warrick Dunn. Great athletes and even better men.

Not taking anything away from the guy. But one thing to remember is that autism kids get very stressed out with social interaction. Its hard on parents because we think our kids are being outcasts when in reality, they crave that isolation. We work hard to get them to socialize but they do need their down time as well.

as this story blows up I really wish that aspect of an austic kid is explained as well.

My understanding is that this is the main difference between austim and Asperger's. Asperger's want the socialization but overwhelm other kids and therefore can't fit in.

All across the spectrum, every child is different. Some want that, some don't. Mine wanted friends but is awkward socially and other kids didn't understand so they felt he wanted to be isolated, but he didn't.

not sure I would say every child is different. but the spectrum is overused with a lot of kids being lumped into it that probably don't belong.

Over stimulation is a very common thread across the spectrum. And that includes socialization stimulation. We have been very fortunate that the kids at my child's school lets her come in and out as she needs. I know not all schools are like that.

The parent in me just wishes that this story could be more of a teachable moment in that going to sit with autistic kids is not always beneficial. Understanding how they are different and allowing them to be different is huge.

True, some autistic children would like the fact he sat with them and some would not.

Yes I was agreeing with you. I accidentally erased part of the end quote of what you wrote then agreed with you with my sentence at the end
