Went out of Scottsmoor at daybreak in the kayak and headed north towards Turnbull Creek. Huge mullet were everywhere but no predators except for the dolphins chasing after them. I fished my way up to Turnbull with no luck but as soon as I turned the corner to go in the creek, right against the shore with its back out of the water was my first shot of the day a 30ish in red. I blew the cast and put my line right on his back, he spooked and was gone :banghead Five minutes later I got my next shot, again, line across the back this time he spooked and then turned and grabbed my CAL. A couple minutes later I landed a 28 inch red, pretty fish no pic though. After that I turned back to fish my way back to the ramp and had several shots at a half dozen or more fish but between my bad casting at fish not wanting to eat I didn't get another bite.
There was life out there though the water was junk, 6 inch visibility, TONS of tailing catfish and more than a dozen reds spotted. The reds were so shallow their backs were out of the water, and my kayak was bottoming out.
