Anyone looking for a worthwhile charity

Hidden Creek Farms is owned by wife and she lets this charity use the barn, grounds and riding rink for the great service they provide. They don't get much exposure for what they do, but I have seen the work they do in person. Tressa provides the dozen or so horses that reside on the property. She has Shetland Ponies, Pot Bellied pigs, a miniature donkey, chickens, turkeys and rabbits that are used with the children for therapy as well as exposure for the horses so they are able to perform in any situation.

There is a Doctor next door that has 40 acres he has donated for riding trails.

As you can see from the page, they haven't gotten a lot of looks.

it's really interesting how she uses all of the animals in some way. She has kids with no upper body strength that she let's them hug the rabbits as a way to use and develop their muscles. As they get stronger she'll have the sit on a chair with an incline and then to sitting of a keg on it's side. The ultimate goal is to get them on a horse. Twice a year they'll do a parade in the riding rink in preparation to ride in the local parade.

The women who runs this is a paralegal in the morning and then does this the rest of the day with the help of many locals.

Not so much from a charitable giving standpoint as giving close to home is best, but just a linked story...

My daughter got her MS in Mental Health Counselling from Rollins about three years ago and immediately left for Austin where she has been completing her internship (3300 hours supervised BTW). Now fully licensed she has found her dream job.

She was into horses growing up - owned her own hunter-jumper and her dream was to get into equine therapy. She was taking the special training required for that.

Just last month she found that dream job and starts in a couple of weeks! In North Dakota!! Near the Montana border, just west of Bismarck. She plans to live on the Montana side. We haven't even begun to find out what it will take to get from Jax to there to visit!

    Check it out. http://hotrnd.com/

I/we are members first. And neutral about what? This is of no benefit to me, just trying to draw attention to a worthy cause. You are a tad bitter don't ya think?

I am not bitter Griz, I have witnessed bias my entire life especially abroad. You need to learn how to be neutral, or give up your position. Personally I have NEVER dealt with a charity that was not corrupt. Only time I give money to the poor is direct, myself. I would be willing to bet everything I have to find out your little organization is milking it.

:grin Of all the many and varied reasons Griz should give up the position, that one does not make the list.

Please be nice. He means very well with this very nice thread.

Sorry Polar, I seriously doubt your name will ever be brought up for a mod, perhaps less stormtrooper outfits. And yes Gary I know Griz had no ill intentions, but the vast majority of charities are, well not ethical.

You have no idea what you're talking about. You think it's a scam that's your opinion. And you and I know both know this is all about a silly avatar.

If I did not have personal knowledge about the charity I would not have posted. I personally know the woman running this and all she has done so far is out of her pocket and the work and sweat of volunteers.

Well Griz, you are getting defensive, bad sign. Most supposed charities suck, yours may be ok and and exception, but I doubt it. Perhaps you should promote such not on a forum where you are an Admin, just sayin.

A silly Avatar, I could care less. My favorite forum is Advrider they got a 1000x daily members that you got from all over the world, my Avatar is just fine there, kids and all. Its fun to post with Russians and Chinese, albeit the Russians are a bit crazy, but fun. Politics is a total riot. You got issues.
