Too much heat

27 July 2016...Wabasso ...The heat today was absolutely brutal, had to quit by 1530. Despite the heat, the fishing was not too bad. The Baby Vudu Shrimp was working overtime. Boated 18 fish on the day, only 2 were on another lure. Started the day at the spoil islands to the North. Small Snapper and a fair Trout, then the thundering herd showed up. Surprised at the number of boats that were out, most of them working the channel. Moved to the ICW side of Preachers. Baby Snook and a 23 inch Red. Push poled for almost a half mile. Boat in less than 12 inches of water, fish in even less water. Watched a Bonnethead cruising, back out of the water, would not hit. Rays and Mullet mudding, no Reds with them. Spotted a free swimming Red and a Tailer, they would not hit. Cast back into a Mangrove pocket, Red just under 26 inches decided to play, her back was out of the water most of the time. Spotted another Bonnethead, no dice. Hot and tired had to fire up the A/C. Ran to Loggerheads, Snapper are thick, even caught a strange one. After a pile of fun, headed to the back side of Johns Island. The water is still nasty. On the way in, spotted a Flying Saucer, all back on the outboard, did not spook. Three casts before I got one right. Nice 15 inch Sheepshead. All fish released for another day.
