However, I've heard comments from many people I personally know that they are now starting to take a break from Facebook and other social media outlets because of the continuous bombardment of political messages that have flooded social media. Personally, I have done the same and have found myself wandering back to forums.
I come to this forum because I want to read fish stories, see fish pictures, catch up on what's going on in the woods, who's building what kind of boat, see what's cooking, hear a good joke and even hear about the adventures other like-minded people, many I have personally met.
I know some will say that you can just ignore the politics section, but in all truthfulness that's not the case. It's toxic. It often spills into other topics in other sections.
So, if by chance there is some super secret vote going on behind the scenes, please consider adding my vote to the "No Politics Section" column.

IMO the politics section was the attempt to sequester the BS into one topic versus many.

Its split fairly evenly between the extremes of both.
Some tread that line very skillfully , others not so much.

So "they" didn't finally do it, "I" finally did it!!!!!!!! I finally ticked off the jerks in Politics and can't go there anymore! ( at least under this screen name :grin)

At any rate, it finally seems like a fishing forum again!
When I say banned I mean the right wanted the liberal members banned, not for saying nasty things about others, but banned BECAUSE they were not right wing. They wanted people banned for WHAT they said, not how they said it. Very trumpian, and this was 1999 or 2000 or so.

Never heard of such a thing. Most I know believe 100 % in the freedom of speech, which means speak your mind, if you don't like it then move on, not ban it like the left is doing all the time. It is really simple to me, if there is a topic I don't want to get involved in I simply don't open it up.

I believe that as well about most on this forum. But they were not always the most vocal members...
I got a lot of IMs in the day that said something like "I may not agree with you, but I respect your right to say it". "Ignore what so and so said about banning you".
what they said????? you called a woman the C word a couple weeks ago , you seem to have serious anger issues noted by how many time you have been banned over the years
..... how many times have you been banned in the last 10 to 12 years 30 or 40 ?. Seriously you should be thanking the mods because you get special privileges.
Ask a mod. Maybe 8-9 times...since 2000 or so...
