Do You Drink Buttermilk?

AC ManAC Man Posts: 7,304 Admiral
I just turned 60. When I was a child spending the summer at both grandparents house in Tennessee if I asked for a glass of milk ( I drank milk by the jug full at the time) They would say sweet milk or buttermilk? Like there was a choice. They drank buttermilk in a glass as well, not me. Any one else? And regular milk is not sweet milk, it's just milk.

Don't drink milk at all. Not sure why but it grosses me out.

I could still drink a quart a day easy if it wasn't for the calories. I take it buttermilk would really gross you out. LOL

Yeah buttermilk is a definite no-go. Even when I did drink it as a kid it had to be whole milk. Skim would make me toss the cookies too.

Guess it's just one of those things. I'm the same way about mayo.

I could easily drink a gallon a day when I was a kid.

In the ARMY, I beat the "milk challenge" 4 times. Never failed either.

I still love an ice cold glass of milk on a hot, summer day. Don't ask me why...

Also, I love milk with a PB&J, or with any Italian food that has red sauce on bread :shrug

Me too, I eat the peter pan honey roast PB (it's some good stuff a lot sweeter than regular PB) & strawberry preserves & a cold glass of milk or 2.

My stepfather would mix cornbread & buttermilk & eat it with a spoon. I never could do it. I tried it once or twice.

Nothing like a good cold swig of milk straight from the fridge container!

I cook with butter milk but I do not like it straight in a glass. Just like anchovies, don't care for them plain, too salty, but I use them to make caesar salad dressing.

I drink a quart of buttermilk every day

    I like the taste

It is full of probiotics and has less fat than yogurt

I did grow up in the country. Sho nuff country. Went to school in a two room schoolhouse. It had a pot bellied stove for heat and outhouses.

the road to 'town' had grass in the middle of it.

Buttermilk is for cooking, not drinking. My father loved it though. I can't drink it.

Do not drink it, but I sure will soak a fish filet in it, then roll in flour.

I don't buy buttermilk just to drink but when I buy it to cook with I usually will drink a glass with brown sugar and cinnamon cheese toast.

No, but I used to use it to make Ranch dressing.

I rarely drink any types of milk. :shrug

As long as you make the nut milk at home, its easy btw just nuts and water. typically a homemade version gives you 6 grams of protein per cup but a store bought version only gives you one. Its one of those things to make at home and is easy.

You do realize beer is essentially bacteria excrement and waste, plus the decaying organisms themselves, so your blood and **** comment makes no sense, look at cheese, what exactly do you think that is?

btw I luv beer and regular milk, butter milk well cooking only.

Milk is for babies, when you get to be a man you have to drink beer.

And buttermilk doesn't sound like something I'd even try. I do occasionally purchase cream for cooking.

tankard, buttermilk soaked chicken wings, overnight, then put on the smoker with dry rub, to die for, try it.

I'll eat chicken sometimes if someone else cooks it.

Like milk, I have never had it in my fridge as an adult.

Just don't care that much for either.

Cool, I'll have to try it. My wife makes cashew cream cheese and almond butter so she is probably half way there.

Don't drink milk of any can except in kibble, aka dry cereal. I do use buttermilk to soak chicken prior to frying but my Dad loved buttermilk. He would break cornbread into chunks in a large glass then filled with buttermilk. Ate it with a spoon and said it was better than ice cream. Yuck!

I'll try soaking chicken in buttermilk next time.
