I was surprised to see this size Tarpon in the Indian River.
Caught Saturday in the Indian River, Melbourne between the causeways. Measured over 6 feet in length.
I witnessed you fighting that fish. I was in a 21' CC Scout with T-Top and 150 Yamaha heading north close to you when one of the guys on the boat told me you were onto a fish. At about that time I saw it jump and turned to the east to avoid you. We hung around and watched you fight if for about 20 minutes and saw a couple of good jumps. We were all like... OMG that is a big fish. You had it close a couple of times. It got too hot to stay around any longer and we did not see you finally land it. I am glad to hear that you landed it. I am curious as to what setup you were using... Rod, reel, line, leader...
I will see you around, Kurt

I was on the boat with Rick when he caught the tarpon. We were targeting tarpon up in the creeks earlier that morning so we had some heavier gear. We hooked that fish on a one of our cobia rods. It had 30lb braid and a 50lb mono lead about 6ft. The fish ate a medium sized live mullet. We were running back to the dock and saw the bait pod and saw some fish rolling so we stopped and chucked out a couple mullet and it was game on.
