I think in this case HDR helps but borders on overdoing a bit. Thoughts are welcomed.

I like the light in the first one very much. The HDR, not so much. The halo is not so great. Sorry.

No reason to be sorry, that's my concern with the HDR treatment too. Overall though, I like the HDR better despite the halo.

i'm not a big fan of HDR, but tone mapping can make an image pop which the second one does...
but that's just me...

I like some HDR photography. There is a art to doing it as I've seen some that is horrible and some that's amazing.
Your shot is nice in both ways. I also caught the halo. But it takes a trained eye to spot times.
I convert alot of my drone photography to HDR as I feel it makes it pop just right.

Thanks. I like it more as well. I wish the little guy wasn't so doggone spooky. That was shot through some lattice which is why the tail is obscured/chopped off.
