Home General Freshwater Fishing

going to try AL anderson park and new Regs grrrrr everything in one post.

Has anyone ever fished on foot here. Wrong place I know. How do the new regs help If I never keep a freshwater fish. I understand the idea of a slot limit. I think a push to get people fish and catch large panfish and keep stocking small fish they can eat. That is how I look at it. Also I am curious about the tampa bypass canal if anyone is anyone fishes there. Thank you have a great weekend.

I spoke to the biologist at the Richloam hatchery awhile back. He said it was intended to increase the amount of larger bass available to catch. The smaller bass are of course younger and more plentiful and have lower ,if any , levels of mercury. Mostly they compete for food necessary to grow larger bass. As mentioned , if you are not keeping any no problem.

I don't have any experience with the outflow canal but I believe Syd posted a neat video showing several nice bass caught from there. Anderson park in this heat may be tough, if you can get to the canal on the South end that would be better.

Thanks I need to put some input into it about this. leave small pan fish and try to get people to keep the giant ones to create more room for bass and catfish. Limit the number of fish that compete with them give them more room.

No, increase the take of smaller bass as they eat the most and reduce the take of the larger fish.

I meant keep big non bass and non cat fish and those invasive catfish. With the panfish just manage it right. Try and remove as many of the the armored cat fish as possible. It sounds like a population density thing.

Managing the age classes of gamefish to keep healthy populations. Invasives need to be controlled as well.

Don't we stock a lot of bass anyway?

Keeping larger fish protected is always the best move. Eating small fish is the most sustainable because reproduction works exponentially.
