Found some big ARS, great gag bite saturday evening

Got a late start Saturday afternoon so the plan was to hit some spots in 75'. Hit the tripod for bait - nada, hit the beach -- goose egg. Well crap, it's now 4, have to head offshore with no live bait but its calm surely I'll spot some schools - NOPE! Ran over to a few wrecks and sabiki'd up some firemouth grunts, they will have to do.

First spot 75' - zip
Second spot 85' - zip
Third spot 95 - zip

Now its 6 PM - I should head in but my son is saying "Dad are we really going home without any keepers."
No we're not! I can make it out to 115' by 6:30 and be home by 10pm........:wink

Hit 115' , chumblock out and send baits down. ARS for next 30 minutes 10-15lbs.

Then the gags start hitting. Caught 11 from 20" - 31"

Next up the mangos - big ones ate live fire mouths. Others ate cut fire mouths.

Headed in about 9 so the wife wouldnt kill me too bad - left them chewing. Got home 11:30 - spot check 'ok' saved me a little with the wife.

Take Home - 4 gags, 10 mangos

THX - yeah he knew - we fished a mile from this spot during the season and only manged 1 fish over 10 lbs. Caught dozens in the 2-3 lb range.
They know season is closed so they moved back in..

Nice job and the water is a lot cooler out there. It was 90 in 40' of water the other day...Hopefully heading out there the next two weekends.

Thanks - Yeah, it was 86-88 in closer ...may try a bit deeper this weekend. i had free lines out but no takers. Didn't see any top water action whole trip. Saw 1 shrimp boat at 30 miles out.. nothing behind it.

Fishing monsters rock!, what a great report, hmmm where were those keeper ARS when you were targeting them? Amazing how they break out the calendars. Way to persevere and get back to the dock slightly behind, it's all good. Very nice Gags.

Great report, and very cool to have a son that loves the pursuit as much as dad.

I have Garmins. The GT51-TH is a good choice if you want Chirp and SideVu. Mounted mine on the keel center line. Good bottom read, even at 35 mph.

Great report made even better with outstanding pictures. Thanks for sharing & for taking so much interest in your son. I worked for the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice for many years...I saw the other side! Sir, you are a credit to not only fishing, but to fatherhood! These young fishermen represent the future of our sport.
