Visitor needs some help

Headed to Fort Meyers beach with our boat and need some help

1. Local fun restaurant bars with dockside parking.

2. Not looking for anyone's honey holes but will be taking a bunch of kids out fishing and would like to put them on some fish. Again, not looking for anyone's grouper holes but it would be nice to have them catch a couple of keeper fish so they can catch clean and eat them.

Not an offshore boat so limiting myself to 6-7 miles and very smooth water.

Thanks for the help. Cheers

You can stay in the back bays and hit grass flats for trout or hit the passes for a variety of possibilities. It seems like there are restaurants right around the base of the matanzas bridge.

Bonita Bills is on the water at the base of Matanzas Bridge. Cash only, but cheap decent food. Nervous nellies is across the way on the opposite side of matanzas. little bit more expensive, but very tasty food with a giant menu. IF you shoot up pine island sound area, I like the waterfront restaurant in st james city. cheap food and beer, laid back joint.

Fishing in close has been hit or miss with the large amount of freshwater being released. If you do want to give it a shot, id try offshore and hit some of the available public numbers. Live shrimp if you can find some that will stay on a hook (summer shrimp have been tiny!), or some fresh dead larger shrimp or fresh squid on a 1/8 jighead, or carolina rig with just enough weight to hold bottom with a 2/0-3/0 circle hook should keep the kids entertained .
