ok...
read excellent reviews on the sigma and tamron 150-600's including the IS tests from this site:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/
sigma wins all around and their test on the IS is very good and the sigma wins again....
they also mention sigma's docking system...
So I stuck the beast on the dock, went to the CF1 position, then to the focusing tab, selected "dynamic", and rewrote the firmware from standard....
no more jitters...IS locks in instantly and rock solid like a canon "L" IS lens....
problem solved.....
I'm not shipping this puppy back now...
shoooo....what a learning curve...
I may consider buying more sigma glass now....
yeeHaaaaa...

my redwing should up this morning for his shoot...
the sigma on my 7D II....
a heron stopped in for a moment or two as well...
focus is way better after rewriting the firmware to "dynamic OS"....
I'm keeping it, but it was a pita to begin with...
Sigma did there thing and with the "lens dock" working with lens, being able to customize a lot of features in the lens is a major plus....
I'd recommend the sigma to anyone who doesn't have deep pockets and wants a good sharp lens over the canon "L" long zooms or the Nikon equivalent...

I've been lucky for over 50 years and never bought a bad body or lens...
it finally caught up with me...
Sigma made it good, so all's well...
I would suggest putting it on the dock and set your IS to "dynamic"...
you'll be a lot happier as you can see the IS take over and track...
makes a world of difference...

however, I'd spoken to a canon tech and he said as far as he knows, canon nor Nikon will follow...
he was out right blunt when he told me the service dept makes too much money on resetting and calibrating lenses...
they don't want the consumer to have that kind of power over "their" equipment...

Not too surprised at that answer really. That said, if they see Sigma stealing enough sales they may reconsider. I do doubt it will happen though.
I think it will happen when all of sigma "C"&"S" series glass get's as good as Canon and Nikon at 2/3 the price...
at that point they are either going to fish or cut bait...
