looks pretty much like the canon 7D MK II....
although the focusing matrix has a lot more points....(Nikon always has)
I think you'll find out like I did is that you'll end up selecting your central area points like most sports and wildlife photogs do, whether they be canon or Nikon....some time you can have too much of a good thing....
in any event, I know you'll love your new toy as I have my 7D...
and it has that "new smell" too...
after shooting my canon 40D's for ten+ years, when I went to the FX 6d, then made the leap to the 7D as well, I was blown away by all the new tech...I have to just about carry the manuals around with me...
Post up as soon as you can so we can see what you got...

While there are many other great features, that feature right there is reason enough to leap the hurdle for entry.
Haven't read how to do it yet, but yes, those late night ball games, would have been great.

Considering the cost of getting it back in shape and how in '85 I paid around $2900 for a full strip, bolting up new medal (hood, front fenders, both rear fenders cut in place, then Imron paint), repair trunk area of rust. Then back in '93 for some rust touch up, and rear quarter of car matched and repainted for $2600, you can see how much it would have run to fix today in 2016. I could not even consider Imron again. PLUS now I have a wife to contend with and as much as she loved the car, knew what the cost would be. With this sale, new camera, new carpet for house and pay down the loan for the mini van. I'd rather some young guy get it (I was 24 when I bought it) and get it in a garage, rather that out under the pole barn and in the elements.

remember not all that long ago, when people would ask which way to go, canon or Nikon, and we'd always respond that you're "buying into a system"???
I'm way too far down the road with the canon system to change...
i'll also add that Nikon is a little proud $$$wise of that red "swish" on the body...
just remember that Nikon was\is using canon's innovative "usm" motors and IS\VR under license...
and they also use sony sensors....
but I do wish my canons had lighted buttons...LOL....
Dave, I know the feeling about the car...sometimes it's time...
I think about what it cost me to keep my sail boat competitive and up to date...
the bay boat just cost me $300 at the shop (not motor related)...
and I just had the entire rear suspension on the Porsche rebuilt (I can still flip it for more than I have in it right now)....
but one get's nickel and dimed to no end, even when you have the best stuff...
so it goes....

I did add up what I put into since the 1985 start to "cherry" it up. $16K and of course that doesn't take into account standard repairs. Still I can't say I didn't have fun in that car. During my early years, 12 points in one night, to moving up into the country with open roads and little traffic. Still I have no garage to keep it in like I did in Winter Park. Can tell you I found chewed wires a few times while sitting out under the pole barn.
Did figure out the lights on the D500, right up where the "on-off" switch is, couldn't be simpler.

He has been wanting one all his life (28 years old) and met me 3 or so years ago, while doing my AC maintenance. He lives a bit of a ways away from me to were I won't be seeing it all the time.........but I would have liked someone from Georgia better or south Florida. LOL

I wasn't advocating you change system, for the exact reason you state. I was simply making the point that there are more "improvements" than the back-lit buttons.
A bit of seller's remorse is to be expected.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens
Canon EOS 7D Mark II
Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM C
Nikon D500 DSLR Camera
yeah....back to the old "chevy vs ford" bs....
as we have spoken about the MP war you commented "it's not about more MP but better MP"...
lighted buttons is a really useful idea, everthing else is, well fluff...
I know a pro that shoots for magazines, catalogues, news papers, and galleries of her original "fine art" etc...
she has a Nikon D90 and a Nikon D4s with a s**t load of glass...
she shoots more with her D90 and the 18-200DX than anything else....
so what does that tell ya.....she has an excellent "eye" and could probably shoot with a pos and it would still be good....
just sayin'.....
