Going with that shutter speed is kind of counter intuitive for hummers. but the effect is really stunning. i really like the motion blur of the wings & body......& with the head in sharp, great contrast. kind of lets you realize how fast they move! my only shots of them are when they are sleeping on the porch rail
Lucky shot for sure at 1/50th. They tend to drink and then back off for a half second and hover, that's when I fired. The male ruby throat is not as cooperative but I hope to catch him at some point.

Capybara's are vicious and should not be let alone with small children. In-laws are another matter.............
We just got our butterfly and hummingbird garden done, and have only recently put a feeder out. We've had a couple of sightings but they are still pretty wary. Looking forward to having regular visitors so I can try to get some shots. Having lots of fun with the butterflies though.
