An easy way to resize pictures ?

tk's joytk's joy Posts: 2,490 Officer
Typically when I want to post a picture I have to resize them because the file is too large, and so I always crop them. That is sort of a pain and thinking there is probably a better way that I am not aware of. Help ?

in LR or PS, well nearly any editing application choose the pixels per inch. for internet viewing choose 72 or 80 dpi.

Here is one way to do it. http://www.duluth.umn.edu/~hrallis/guides/resize_images/resizing_ppi.html

The there is always this. http://webresizer.com/

I hope this helps. Ask more questions. Let us know how you do.

I have LR, but frankly I found that the software I received years ago with one of my cameras is much simpler and easier to resize and enhance. PhotoImpressions.

You probably got a software disk with your camera - they all seem to come with one these days. Check the software you have on that.
Maybe if we tell people that the brain is an App, they will start using it.

You don't resize before posting on a forum?

I suppose. But not on my side. I load images that are anywhere from 5 to 8 or 9 megs; takes about 29 seconds to load them, they show in what looks like hd, the site is free and accesible, you can set your own security settings as far as downloading allowances, what else do you need to show an image online? The question was, what is an easy way to resize images that they want to post without cropping or being time consuming. Am I right? Dont bother answering that; I am. I will not get into a typical discussion with you that involves your irritating semantics. If you want to discuss what I posted, I will be happy to help if I can. If you are trying to be annoying, stop it. It is not your thread to derail while we are trying to help.

    Huh?

    You are way off base.

I suspect you may not understand the process you are following.

From what I think you are saying:

You upload your jpegs (based on your reported image size) to Flickr. Then when you go to use them to post on a forum you can specify what resolution to use in the posting and Flickr does the resizing for you, since I suspect you are not posting 5-9 meg photos on web sites. Yes?

I don't use Flickr so do not know their process. I do the resizing myself and host on my own website. A fairly simple process.

This is not for you; it is for tk or anyone else that wants to post images without resizing or cropping. I quite frankly dont care about the process it takes for me to show an image of a water hose or pretty flower; I just click a couple buttons, and it appears like magic. No cropping, no resizing. that is the guts of this conversation, No muss, no fuss. There are a million ways to do it; this is one of the easy ways. Although this is beginning to wear on me a little bit.

What exactly is beginning to wear on you?

Everything you have posted on here so far is awfully confusing?

    Thank you all.

Didn't mean to start anything. I will try the Flickr thing. Currently, though, I think I might have accidentally discovered a quick way using Photoshop where I just tell it I want to edit a photo, it comes up w/ the before/after screen, I simply click the "ok check mark" on the after screen, I then comes up w/ another screen where I click a lesser quality, and it works. Thank you all. No fighting y'all.
