what the heck is this ?

The attached photos show the inside of the baitwell on my 2006 BayScout. The arrow indicates where a leak is occurring. I have owned this boat for 9 years and there has never been anything protruding from this area. The close up pic seems to indicate that something may have broken off , it definitely shows a gap around the hole into the baitwell , which is where the leak is. So what is supposed to go in that location ? I can see in the bilge area a flat circular piece of plastic that is in direct line with this hole in the baitwell. Water is leaking out of the rigging tube that houses the aerator line , and 2 others which I can't determine due to lack of access

Yep looks like a light. After 9 years of owning the boat you never knew you had alight in the live well. AMAZING

it's never worked , and there is no switch for a light ( I'm assuming it comes on when the aerator is turned on), and the previous owner never told me it had a light , and the literature I received from Scout when I bought the boat didn't address it either. So really not that amazing

thats not from factory... Someone did that horrible install and failed...

easiest thing to do would be to replace it and seal it properly. weather you chose to wire it up is up to you.

Be sure and check the hole diameter before picking up a new light. The older incandescent bulb style used a 1" hole but I've seen some with led's that only use a 1/2" mounting hole.

This is a half inch hole . I can't figure out how it's wired,there is no visible wiring going to it either through the rigging tube or in the bilge . I sent the pictures to Scout but haven't heard back

Found the wiring. It does go through the rigging tube ,it was hidden between thewater/aerator lines . The way it's wired and installed it looks like a factory install to me

Many factory installed lights come on with the courtesy lights. if you don't fish at night, or have a clear baitwell lid, you'd never know.

I had that same thought last night , turned on courtesy lights , and no baitwell light, which isn't surprising since the bulb is now in direct contact with water. I'm going to spend some time on it tomorrow to see if I can remove it and take a pic

Yup. Both of my livewell lights are wired to the courtesy lights.
