Frozen!

My workhorse 24-70 has finally bit the dust after ~350k photos. The zoom ring won't turn at all. It's been a bit sticky ever since I bought it, and got worse over the last 3 years. Is it worth sending in to Nikon to have it fixed?

PS: the zoom band wore off long ago, and I've been going with duct tape. Classy!

Send it to Nikon repair in NY, it will be ship shape for much, much, much less than you can replace it for. MUCH less.

You will have to tell them to leave your custom focus ring grip though. :rotflmao

Wow! People gave me crap for stating I'd shot 10's of thousands of photos since learning wet photo printing when I was 10 & worked as a photographer for both a newspaper & museum.

"~350k photos" with just one lens is amazing!

Those Nikkor 24-70 zooms are well over $1000 - So if the glass is good it's got to be worthwhile at least inquiring what Nikon would charge to refurbish it.
