PC 04-29-16 Phins and Kings

Put in at 7:30. Out to 120' dropped lines in and headed east to 220' and then back in. Scattered reports on radio but our bite was non-existant. Nothing til about 1pm when we picked up a phin along a small rip with weeds we found in 130'. He brought 3 buddies to the boat but they were just sniffin anything we threw at them. Had a cigar minnow hooked to pitch at them and they just kept sniffing it. Threw a skirted hoo out and tried slow and fast retrievals and they just hung around. I probably ahould have chummed them up first to fire them up. Ended up putting a double header on the boat on the next pass of that rip. 3 in the box at 2pm. Couple more passes and nada, some more blind trolling nada. Headed back in stopped by Pelican flats.

Switched to skirted cigars with stinger rigs at Pelican Flats around 4:30pm. No bites for 30 minutes so I started chunking some remaining cigars as we trolled. After 3-4 minutes of chummin the first King hit. Got him in. Repeated the process and we got 3 more knockdowns all within 10-15 minutes of each restart. The 2nd King was bigger. 3rd was the strongest runner but pulled a hook after 10 minutes of fighting. 4th was a Bonita. Headed in at and got back to ramp at 7:30pm. Guy at ramp was arriving to beat the weekend madness, it's going to be nuts. Great day out, hope you all had tight lines.

Pics to follow. Posting from phone and they're too big
