Zuckerberg spent $19m on personal security over past three years . . .

Baits OutBaits Out Posts: 12,328 AG
And thus the times in which we live.

At Facebook, security is a top priority — security for CEO Mark Zuckerberg, that is.

The social-networking giant spent more than $6.5 million last year on bodyguards and other measures to protect Zuckerberg and his growing family, according to a recent regulatory filing.

The cost to protect Zuckerberg topped $7.8 million in 2014, up from $4.2 million the previous year, according to the document. In all, the company has shelled out $19 million on security for the CEO over the past three years.

He is reportedly so concerned about his own security that he has no less than 16 people protecting him at his Californian home.

According to Forbes, Zuckerberg is the sixth richest person in the world and has previously been threatened by the Isalmic State supporters so a need for security is understandable. But his expenditure on personal protection massively dwarfs that of Apple CEO Tim Cook with the iconic company spending just $275,000 on security for its leader.

In addition to bodyguards, Facebook footed the bill for Zuckerberg’s personal travel on private jets to ensure his safety, as well as the installation and maintenance of alarms, cameras and other equipment at his homes.

If I was worth untold billions why the heck not have a strong security force around myself to prevent some nut job from harming me or my family???

He is not afraid of anything, he has 19 well armed guards around him at all times and spent 19 million dollars on security.

How could someone that has done that still be afraid?

I don't agree with his politics but I don't think people crossing the border are going to be working at facebook.

Tech companies, including facebook have a workforce of thousands of low wage employees to drive their buses, keep their grounds, clean their buildings, cook their food, etc.

Reducing requirements for work visas (H-1B/LCA) won't help the wages of educated tech workers either.

Mark Zuckerberg causes outrage after he starts building a six-foot wall around his $100m Hawaiian holiday plantation blocking residents' views of the ocean

    • Mark Zuckerberg paid $100 million for the 750-acre retreat on Kauai
    • He also bought two parcels of land beside his property to ensure privacy
    • Now locals have been angered by a six-foot high wall along the boundary
    • He previously bought properties surrounding his Silicon Valley mansion

Billionaire Facebook boss Mark Zuckerberg has annoyed locals on the Hawaiian holiday island of Kauai after he began construction a large stone wall around his $100million 750-acre retreat.

Zuckerberg bought the property in 2014 and later added two further parcels of land, including 393 acres at Pila'a Beach on the north shore of the island.

However, the Facebook founder is facing criticism locally over the controversial plans.

That $19m would be like us spending $1.9k on a home alarm system.

    What's the big deal?

The big deal is the apparent need to use this to argue against his political views, which the loudest voices on this are unable to do.

This post really should be in the Politics forum.

The RWNJs should **** about building a stupid wall that will be tunneled under. Then they should pull their head from out of their rectum and realize we should be going after the employers who hire these illegal immigrants.

Good Lord Jad. It's better to keep your mouth shut and let everyone assume you're an idiot, rather than opening it and proving everyone right.

You think I am an idiot because I have a different view on our immigration issue? A wall will not resolve our immigration issues. It's not like there aren't already tunnels in use.

No, I dislike how you refer to conservatives as RWNJ's and everyone else should "****" if they disagree with you. Narcissism is one of the character flaws that I can easily spot... I'm praying for you :grin
