If I opened a new business effective January 1st 2016, Do I have to file an annual report this year? (May 1st, 2016)
No. You will file in 2017. I did this last year for a couple of companies and they even suggested making the business effective in January, 2015, rather than December, 2014, just so as to put off filing to the following years.
The late fees are crazy.
