Gran Prix of Alabama, Indy cars, and more

I went up to see the indy car Alabama gran prix from april 22 to the 24th...
there was a lot of good racing from the indy cars, indy lites, and the sports car Pirelli Challenge...
had pit passes so we could ramble through the pits and even talk to engineers and mechanics...
we did unfortunately miss the drivers "meet and greet"...
the sports car racing was incredible...most of them had the old formula shriek...except the vipers....
the 10 cylinder V 8's had their own special sound...
there were three classes of sports cars running simultaneously....all exotic cars....
so here's a few pix out of several hundred (at 8fps it doesn't take much to shoot a bunch)
I have several more except the evil retaining fence wrecked the shots....

Capybara's are vicious and should not be let alone with small children. In-laws are another matter.............
That Caddy looks pretty cool.
the caddy is an ATS-V. they ended up winning class narrowly over the mcclarens...
the 2 porsches in that class took each other out...the ferraris never had a chance...

indeed, it was a good time...I'm going back next year.
one of the really cool things there is their motorsport museum...it's incredible...
classic sports cars and probably the largest collection of motorcycles anywhere...
I have a few shots I took inside...will post later...

Were they running the twin turbo V6? Not sure what the rules specify is allowable in this case.
yes they are....
caddy dropped their cts-v program to push the ats-v....
they sound like an F-1 at full song...
the driver of one car and the lead engineer say the ats-v handles a lot better than the cts-v...
watching them carve corners like a Porsche rs turbo was sweet....
I actually preferred to watch the sports cars more than the indy cars...
they were about 9 seconds a lap slower than the indy cars which is pretty impressive considering the weight difference...
