Anyone else seeing black-X boxes instead of the letter "e"?

Half the text on some threads is showing a black box with an X instead of the letter "e". Is this a forum issue, or is my computer dying?

yes, also, it keeps wanting me to re register everytime i visit the forum. I have to log in everytime too.
