Trolling question out of PC

I am going out on a party boat this weekend out of PC. In previous putting I have seen typically crewman sometimes throw out a trolling bait. Last time I went I was told I could do it as well, since I paid to fish. So my question is this since I have never done it, what would you use to troll 10-15 knots? I would love to maximize my time fishing and offer something nobody use is doing.

    Heavy tackle.
If you don't have some kind of trophy fish on, the boat wont slow down for you to crank it in.
Even cranking in smaller fish at 15 knots is a workout.
I'd drag a heavily brined naked or skirted ballyhoo.

I was planning on taking 7'0 rod that is a beef stick with a Penn 330gti currently it has 180lb Dacron on it. What size shock leader should I use? 20 feet of 80 lb mono or fluorocarbon?

Could I get away with a plastic hoo with a islander skirt or should I get pre rigged hoo.

Cedar plug works well in that speed.

I'll guess the party boat will run close to 20 knots.
    I would use skirted ballyhoo.
If you just want to let something ride I would go with something more durable then a soft plastic.
Just a skirt rigged with a hook.
    Just ideas.

I wouldn't bother trolling on a head boat.

Once at anchor free line a live bait if the current is right.

No way a ballyhoo will last more than 5 minutes pulling at that speed. You need to be pulling a high-speed wahoo style rig - search for some of the threads about high speed wahoo fishing. As far as a rod/reel, anything less than a 50 class with plenty of 50 LB+ line (80 class even better) will be a disaster with a wahoo rig 150+ yards behind the boat (lesser reels will not have enough drag to prevent the rig from pulling line off the reel without a fish on, god forbid you get a fish on). Oh yeah, make sure you have a good harness and fighting belt or you have real problems and wish you just stayed in the lounge having a coffee or beer. I agree with the comment about not bothering to troll from a head boat.

I have pulled hoos that fast. Must brine them.

I would skip it. Not worth the aggravation or tackle in that situation man.

I've never heard of or tried to pull a hoo at 15-20 knots. That's not to say it can't be done. If you are gonna troll that fast you better have some pretty heavy equipment. I would troll some sort of wahoo lure (purple and black or orange and black) and see what happens. Good luck.

Bent butts and 50's or 80's, never pulled that fast off the out riggers.
2 to 4 lines out of the gunnels.
Stagger the lines right and you won't get very many tangles.

Gandrfab....they don't get washed out quickly? I troll mine anywhere from 4-8 knots and I still get washout.
